I find that this quote continues to be more needed in our society in general. We often find people speaking before they know what is happening. If we all took the time to think before we spoke it would change out culture and nation. It has the potential to change nations when people exercise self control. When courtesy and respect are given it will be returned. When we take time to listen to others and then understand them it allows us to make better choices and to actually work through problems and issues.
All to often in our society we see people calling each other names and saying things about their opposition that isn’t true. We can look to the political parties and the PACs that are associated with them. How they speak about the opposition and the names they call them and the ugly actions they accuse each other; it amazes me that this is a ‘tactic’ or tool for getting elected. What I think is more appalling is that we (many, if not all) the citizens and sovereigns of America fall for it.
