“A great pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do.” – G.W.F. Hegel
One of the things I do enjoy is accomplishing something that someone else doesn’t think I can do. In my Junior year of High School History class, we wrote a term paper (or research paper) some of us were given a little extra time to turn in our first assignment. I don’t remember why any more. I do remember that I also turned in the next project and ended up with a “C” in the class because of it. Our History teacher posted our grades on a regular basis by the door to her classroom. I was initially irritated to see the “C” because I had an “A” for the first 2 semesters of the school year. Another student said that I couldn’t raise my grade enough to get an “A” for the semester. I laughed and said, “watch me”. I was not able to get the top “A” in that semester, however, I had the third highest by GPA. I felt great to be able to earn that grade.
When someone doesn’t believe in me or that I can do something it fuels me even more! I love to accomplish those things! No, I don’t go back and throw it in their face or even become smug about it … I just enjoy the success!
