Well, last night I put in the effort to upgrade to the New WordPress 2.3 “Dexter”. Oh yeah, from now on I will NEVER run a upgrade unless I have a whole weekend. For some reason, I was not expecting the upgrade to break things, like Ryboe Tag Cloud and my BlogRoll, what was I thinking!
So, I spent hours last night working to find replacement plug-ins and I am still tweaking them, specifically New Tag Cloud. I converted my Categories to Tags and lost all my Categories. Now, I get to “fix” them. My complaint, no disclaimer letting me know that I would lose them if they were converted.
I also learned that if you go through the entire install process and upgrade the db, you can’t go back. Aaahhh, that was a joy last night around midnight, so I reran the Automatic Update, which worked great! I then went to bed and I will be working out any ‘bugs’ that I have created with my gimped install.
But next time, I think that I will have to read all the documentation and then decide if I need to upgrade my WordPress. When I do, it will have to be over a weekend so that I have extra time to spend correcting errors.
