He gets up every morning & goes off to work
like he has for the past twenty some years. . .
thinking of his family & how things are tight –
sleepless nights . . . painful times seeing his children go without,
it’s enough to stress anyone out.
He’s quiet
only mother knew what he did . . .
no breakfast so we could eat,
then dinner he ate 1st . . .how much did he go without so we could get?
Strongest man I know,
stubborn as a mule –
but quick as lightening w/jokes &
a smile . . .
he still gets up every morning & goes to work
like he has for so many years . . .
and still he is my Hero.
He taught me more about work & love & life,
through his mistakes & good works –
so what if he didn’t have a dad to teach him to be one,
he had a Heavenly Father & they did just fine.
Moments of just us two,
dinner or a walk . . .
still time to talk.
I stand taller knowing that
he is proud of me . . .
yeah, he’s still my Hero.
he is “Old Man”, my Father, Papa . . .
He is the one man on earth I look up to
more than any other –
and have a great deal of love & respect for.
My Dad, My Example, My HERO!
