“Decisions determine destiny.” – Thomas S. Monson
As you can see in reading my blog, that I believe that a person builds his character over time. I also like alliteration. Well, I do. The truth is that our actions determine who we are; like I tell me boys bad choices lead to jail and good choices don’t. Truly, it isn’t so black and white, and neither is character. Many of the classics have protagonists that cause their own problems. Hamlet comes to mind … Aesop’s Fables, Hans Christian Anderson, Mark Twain, Geoffrey Chaucer, Charles Dickens, and C. S. Lewis also come to mind.
Only the person looking back at you in the mirror can determine what she wants to be like. Stephen R. Covey calls it, “Begin with the End in Mind“. As a christian my goal is to become like Jesus Christ as He teaches in the New Testament and Book of Mormon. While some may find this daunting; please remember that this is a life long pursuit. A marathon, not a sprint.
As I look back over my short life, I can see the small changes that have made over time. They have helped make me the man I am today, not perfect … a work in progress.
Your “decisions determine” your “destiny”. What will that be?
