I just finished Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson on my trip back home yesterday. This book tells the story of how Greg got involved with building schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan. This is a mission he fell into by trying to honor his sister and climb K2 or the Savage Mountain, the second-highest mountain on Earth (after Mount Everest).
Mr. Mortenson got lost and wondered into a village, then subsequently promised to build a school. that journey led to many trips into the region and the founding of CAI, the Central Asia Institute.
