I just finished The Mote in God’s Eye by Larry Niven & Jerry Pournelle. I admit that it wasn’t what I was expecting. I was thinking this was going to be a typical destroy the aliens novel and it wasn’t that at all. This story is set well into the future of human history with the collapse of a human empire and then the rebuilding of that empire. The interaction of aliens with humans and the subsequent events really surprised me. The Mote in God’s Eye was slow in some parts; but over all it was a good read and kept my attention.
This was a good purchase and one that I will hang on to.
