Two days ago PC World published an article about Ramex.a, a worm that has been rampaging through Skype/WinBox users and giving them a nasty infection. Linux and Mac users are unaffected by this worm. From what researchers can tell, this worm provides a realistic chat message with a link that leads to code execution, bot installation, changing of some critical system files, which in turn makes ones computer a bot without any way to get critical software updates.
This means that if a person gets infected they will have to manually remove and change things. The article has links on how to disinfect your system. You can find the original article here.

Note:
No, I did not write this line,”Linux and Mac users are unaffected by this worm,” with a smug look on my face.

Thanks for this, as I just joined Skype (a week or so ago). I haven’t called anyone. I haven’t even checked if my friends have responded to my “add to friends” request. Ooops.
