Mother’s Day Poem 2010

a Mother is an angel sent by Heavenly Father
she is a healer, helper, and nurturer
she has so much love for her children
that she willing suffer to keep them safe from harm
she will face physical danger and wade deep into unsavory places

She will spend years on her knees so that her children
will accept the gospel of Jesus Christ
She will stay up late to see them safely return home

Not to mention sleepless nights to serve her infant’s needs
hours spent in teaching the most basic of things
reading, coloring, writing, self-esteem, sharing, and love
to name a scant few

She is a glory to behold in all of nature
a mother at work is like nothing else
there is no fury greater, no love stronger, no smile brighter
there is no beauty more sublime then when a mother holds her child
no wonder more great than the miracle of mother

pen & paper . . . work together,
poems, prose, letters, and more
communication that has been around for centuries.

stone tablets and papyrus started it all,
today – there lives an electronic world
where the digital dominates
- where the 0 & 1 lives forever . . .
unless the domain dies . . .

keep it up & people will come
you may not become the next R. Scoble
or M. Zuckerburg or K. Rose . . .
but you may make good friends and change you
corner of the world.

fall is here
storm clouds in the heavens
color blossoming on the trees

crisp reds, vibrant yellows, smooth browns
roiling, dark, and full of fury

trees full of color
vibrant and alive
the sign of death

molting, rotting, damp
bare, empty, and ready for snow

Lightning of Coincidence

Storm raging around us & we can’t always see ~
the future that is meant to be,

lightning of coincidence
thunder of confusion

reality changes from my perspective,
to years . . .
paradigms are different
no matter . . . what . . . is absolute fact?

only sunlight washes out the clouded thoughts
as rain drops set the stains.
chaos theory dives answers to questions
nobody thought to ask . . .
mad men w/out power get locked up ~

madmen w/power elected,
money given . . . not always earned.
whiners exonerated &
honorable men exasperated.

where can answers come from
when you can’t trust yourself . . .
seek peace through inner focus,
find the light that wants to shine.

lightning of coincidence w/
thunder of confusion;
clamor of this great big world
can be left in derision . . .
except those w/hope or
would help others overcome.

2 years old and doesn’t know
how much his parents love him
kiss good night, doesn’t say it right.

wants to be good
but he is only 2.

is trying to be the big brother
wants to help his mother
likes to hang out with dad.

2 years old and he doesn’t know
how much his parents love him
he has a long way to go.

one day he will know.

a miracle

a miracle has arrived this week
straight from the heavens above,
little hands and feet
soft skin and cries.

clean slate
open mind
no preconceived ideas.

already learning
to get food and a clean bum
no smiles yet and all gums.

black belly and hair
red skin when crying
white when calm
potential untapped.

a fresh and newly delivered miracle.

Life brings challenges that allow us to rise
time passes, decisions need to be made
our decisions could bring failure
prayer, study of Holy Writ, and lots of patience.
HIS way will always work out.

you are my hero

You are my Hero; but
not in the traditional way.
You’ve got the ever present
Mask of stoicism;
that barely hides
your dancing eyes.
I see the hardships
of daily routine,
As it grinds away
your Mask.

You go home only
because of responsibility;
to take care of the family,
and clean the house.
I would join for a while &
try to lift your burdens;
you’d impart only a taste &
then pull it back inside.

After pain &
anguish & a lot of trust.
You opened up & shared
yourself & I found a softer touch.
You let your mask down &
I opened up my heart.
I was only an outlet
for some emotion;
You are my confidant &
best friend.

I saw & know how
you handle pain,
Holding it inside
’till you bust to let it go.
I can see it in your eyes &
hear it in your voice;
but, the pain you hold
is used to make you strong.

I’m learning now &
growing more.
to learn & emulate
your good points;
And to grow from
my pain
is my goal – but is it in vain?

We are now close to heart
but far away.
This brings great sadness & dismay.
I look up to & honor you;
I can’t let a day
pass away without a thought of you.

To deny my existence
would be to destroy me;
so, go your way & think not of
me, but
forget not a letter &
Alive I will be.

INTERRUPTION

In the peaceful state the interruption:
Brought chaos and destruction.
It devastated our Eden;
There’s no sugar that could even sweeten.

T’was hell;
The devils thought it swell.
As the flames of fire roared;
The spirits of evil soared.

The whole world’s going round;
Things are falling to the ground.
It’s shaking,
Earth -quaking.

The news that the harbinger bore,
It was devastating to this horde.
The evil flowed strong,
And the night grew long.

The demons sang their song;
It was eerie and scary.
They laughed and chuckled,
As their enemies knees buckled.
Their eyes showed the fright,
And the demons filled with delight.
The hero en route was shot ‑ yet, anyhow ‑
He still came out on top,
And this carnage couldn’t stop.

The people started to fight;
the demons laughed and took flight.
Our hero came riding in;
His Pegasus flew high on the win’.

He carried his magic sword;
Swinging it high o’er his head.
He slashed and slew;
‘Till all evil was dead.
