The iPhone and Wired prove ME right!

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

Last year after I got Iron Wil online and started really investing time into it, I wrote an article called Curse of the Mobile Providers. In this article, I complained about the current state of mobile service. I talked about the changes coming and that one day mobile phones/devices would be much more like computers on the internet today.

Well, Wired just backed up my thoughts with an in depth article that talks about the changes the iPhone has brought to the wireless world. They also covered the open wireless standards that Verizon (and AT&T) announced late last year [I covered this in Open Wireless Networks!]. With mobile phone makers scrambling to make must have devices like the iPhone, Wireless providers opening up their networks, the open 700Mhz bandwidth [Google unwires the US?], and Google releasing Android for mobile phones [Google Phone?]; My prediction should come true sooner than I expected!

I am really excited about this not because I wrote and have spent time thinking about it, but because it could happen sooner then the 3 to 5 years I suggested!

I salivate at the possibility of taking my mobile phone to whatever carrier I want. Man that just ROCKS!!!

New Get a Mac Ad!

Monday, January 7th, 2008

This morning I took a break and hit the Apple website to see if there was anything interesting when I spotted a new ad in the bottom right corner of the website. The new ad ‘Referee’ is quite funny - like all the other ads.

see them here.

New TechnoLUST, Drobo

Friday, January 4th, 2008

Wow, I am blown away!

Check out the Drobo, it is the first storage robot and it’s ability to manage data and hard drives is crazy! I would love to get one, I just have to figure out how I am going to pay for it with a new kid on the way - hmmm.

I would also recommend that you check out the Drobolater, it is a very nice tool to show you how the storage capacity works. There is also a community called DroboSpace.

I just have one question? Is there any security?

BlogRoll Surprise!

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

Late last night, I finally got a change to check my eMail and the Net for anything new and exciting. I was surprised to see that Michael Santarcangelo of The Security Catalyst left a comment on my post from New Year’s Day [link here]. In his comment he informs us that he is in the process of getting a regular Monthly Security Round Table and Security Catalyst netcast published each month.

I have to admit I hope that he is successful. Michael does a good job of bringing the technical into the realm of understanding for many people. His Security Catalyst website is also well designed and informative. I hope that he will continue to provide quality content and information on computer and systems security.

I have added his site back to the BlogRoll and let you know when he publishes a netcast.
