Topics are diverse and range from RFID Security, Windows Vista Exploits, Forensics and Anti-Forensics, Root-Kits, Zero Day Vulnerabilities, Anomaly Detection, Hardware Hacking and much more. Topics can also apply to the offensive initiatives of a group such as a pen test team or vulnerability researchers.

Black Hat Training provides hands-on experience of the newest security threats and countermeasures. Courses include application security, assessment methodologies, computer forensics, root-kit technology, software vulnerability analysis, managerial and systems administration. Verizon pulls a 180 on the Band Width Auction

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

Verizon Wireless has turned around and started to move towards Google’s stand on the 700mhz band. They are making some noise about what is allowed and what is acceptable.

“Rick Whitt, a Google lawyer based in Washington, described Verizon’s proposal as “a promising half-step forward for consumers,” but he said it doesn’t go far enough to guarantee consumers can “download applications and use devices on any network.” (1)

Google unwires the US?

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

Google has offered a minimum bid of 4.6 Billion $’s for the 700mzh radio band that makes up the current TV broadcast structure. They make only one stipulation which is open access for everybody. Meaning that my Treo could tap into the band and laptop users could get online everywhere.

Google claims their idea is to offer easy access for potential high-speed internet providers. “The effort is backed by public interest groups and a coalition of major technology companies including Intel Corp., eBay Inc., Yahoo Inc., DirecTV Group Inc. and EchoStar Communications Corp.” (1)

The auction will not happen until late 2008 or 2009, when all TV signals go 100% digital.
